Cookie Policy

Last updated October 5, 2026

alexgrishchuk.com uses one cookie, and only when you sign in. There are no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and none from other companies. Because that one cookie is strictly necessary for signing in, the law doesn't require consent for it, so the site shows a notice instead of a consent form: there's nothing to turn off without breaking sign-in.

The cookie

NameWhat it's forHow long
__Host-session Keeps you signed in. It holds a random session ID (and, for a moment while you sign in with Google, a one-time security code). Set by alexgrishchuk.com only (the __Host- prefix means no other site or subdomain can set or change it), sent only over HTTPS, and not readable by scripts (Secure, HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax). Up to 30 days, but the sign-in ends sooner: when you sign out, or after 2 hours without activity.

Storage in your browser

A few settings are kept in your browser's local storage. They aren't cookies: they're never sent to the server or anyone else, and they stay on your device.

NameWhat it's for
themeYour light / auto / dark choice.
cookieNoticeThe date you closed the cookie notice, so it doesn't come back.
updatesReadWhich home page updates you've read, when you're not signed in (signed in, your account keeps this instead).
bcViewThe Blue Command tab you last had open.
App cacheBlue Command keeps a small "no connection" page so an installed phone app can say when it's offline. It never stores your data.

Other services your browser contacts

These don't set cookies through this site, but your browser loads files from them, so they see your IP address and browser details, as with any website:

Clearing or blocking

You can delete the cookie and local storage in your browser's settings at any time. Blocking the cookie stops you from signing in, but the public pages still work.
